Yggdrasil Gaming

yggdrasil-gaming-logoIt’s not often a new online slots developer comes onto the market so it’s always worth checking out what they’ve got to offer, especially when their games begin to appear at our recommended online casinos.

Yggdrasil Gaming is based in Malta and opened it’s doors to the gaming world at the beginning of 2013. Yggdrasil isn’t just a made up word, it’s one of the central tenets of Norse mythology – a gigantic tree which connects to nine otherworldly locations. The CEO is Fredrik Elmqvist, a Swede and former senior figure at Net Entertainment and his heritage probably explains the Scandinavian nature of the company’s name.

Yggdrasil Gaming’s output is not just limited to slots; it also has a finger in various other online pies. These include lotteries, Keno, Scratchcards (classic and video), progressive and mobile slots.

The quality of Yggdrasil’s output has meant that a number of casinos were happy to license one or more of their games and fortunately these include Mr Green and Betsson, two of our favourites. It is currently operational in a number of countries including the UK, Sweden, Belgium and Estonia and it’s regulated by the Maltese Gaming Commission.

We are also pleased to see that a number of the games are available to play in a mobile format and this is something which is going to become increasingly important over the months and years to come. Companies which stay ahead of the game here will reap the benefits in the end.

N.B. Yggdrasil: Tree Of Life (review) is also the name of pre-existing slot from Genesis Gaming with no connection to this company.
