Since the earliest days of poker, the game has always lent itself to changes in the rules – some small enough just to tweak proceedings, others which have meant a transformation into a whole new game. At it’s heart though poker is a game of skill in which bluffing and a solid hand wins the day.
Poker can be grouped into four different categories below; each listed game is a variant within that category. Most casual players are familiar with styles such as Texas Hold’em, Five Card Draw and Seven Card Stud but there’s plenty more to get to grips with including relatively recent innovations such as Pineapple, a reasonably simple form of poker popular in South America and Australia.
