Thunderkick Games are a relatively small online slots developer who have managed to produce a really creative range of games which puts many of the larger companies to shame. Some of these games walk the fine line between being a slot and being something akin to an arcade game – check out Birds On A Wire and Fruit Warp for example – and Sunny Scoops is one more to add to that list. Read on to find out more about this ice cream-themed diversion.
Sunny Scoops is essentially a classic slot – it plays out over three reels and fourteen paylines and as you can see from the screenshot above, it features just ice cream scoops against the backdrop of a bright blue sky.
All the symbols are obviously various flavours of ice cream and although we can’t identify them all, they include lemon, strawberry and chocolate chip. There are no wilds or special symbols and we shall explain below how the bonus game works.
There’s a two stage bonus game here and to get things stared you will first have to land a matching flavour of ice-cream on one reel, i.e. three scoops of chocolate for example. Manage this and you will see a close up of the top of that ice cream tower where a spinner will appear. This will come to a halt on either a multiplier (2x, 3x, 5x, 7x) or a food symbol which will trigger the next stage.
If you manage to land that food symbol you will receive ten free spins but look out for the multiplier ladder on the right hand side. Each winning free spin will move you one place up that ladder and earn you an extra spin; a non-winning spin will move you down one place.
For example four consecutive winning spins will move you up to a 4x multiplier and use only one of your free spins. A non-winning spin will drop you back down to a 3x multiplier. When the spins are over you will be taken back to the base game.
If you win more than one set of free spins in the base game, the total awarded are added together.
As with other Thunderkick Games, Sunny Scoops is almost hypnotic to play; it looks great in terms of graphics and animations and there’s an unusual soundtrack. Highly recommended.
