If you can hear the jungle drums and can glimpse the gloomy vines hanging in the trees in the distance then you may be closer than you think to playing Ugga Bugga, an innovative online slot machine from Playtech. Ugga Bugga sits somewhere between being a three reel classic slot and a more complex machine.
There are just three reels available and ten paylines but that’s not the whole story; each of the ten paylines has its own slot which, as you can see from the screenshot above, means ten different spinning reels. If you’re transferring from a more regular slot machine the gameplay mechanics can take a little getting used to but once you understand what’s going on, Ugga Bugga can be quite an addictive experience.
You have to play all ten paylines but you can adjust the stakes so that a minimum bet of £0.10 is possible – that’s £0.01 per line. With everything set at maximum you can spend £250 per spin so take care with those plus and minus buttons.
When you click ‘spin’ you will see each reel spin and stop in turn, beginning at the bottom left and finishing in the top right. The ability to ‘hold’ reels is an integral part of this game but you only get three ‘hold’ buttons connected to the bottom left reels. The opportunity to freeze the reels comes around pretty often and holding one symbol will hold every symbol in that position on all ten reels. This is great if you spin a symbol such as the warrior with his spear and shield which wins with just one symbol on the first reel. It’s a small win but it occurs on every set of reels and provides ten more opportunities to win money.
Verdict
The game looks good and the symbols are all well rendered; they include the warrior, huts, bowls of fruit, jungle drums, masks and a golden idol wild symbol. Give Ugga Bugga a go and be seduced by its jungly atmosphere.
