Sometimes it’s good to go back to basics and just spin the reels without the expectation of free spins, bonus features or any of the other stuff that accessorises most of the newer five reel slots. Most online slots fans like these extras of course and that includes us but every now and then why not spin the reels just for the pleasure of spinning the reels. That’s what we’ve been doing recently with Silver Bullet.
Playtech’s Silver Bullet is not a new slot but it passed us by the first time around so we’re going to take a good look at it in this review. It’s a five reel and nine payline slot set firmly in the Wild West; the reels are placed below a ‘Silver Bullet’ sign that looks as though it could be hanging over a saloon entrance.
All the symbols can be associated with the old West and will be familiar to anyone who’s ever watched a cowboy film. From low to high value we have a horse, a stack of dollar bills, a horseshoe, a smoking pipe, a wagon wheel, a bottle of alcohol, a lucky seven, a bomb and a barrel.
The sheriff’s badge is wild and the scatter symbol is a Colt pistol.
As we explained above there’s nothing flashy here – you click the ‘Spin’ button or take advantage of the ‘Autoplay’ feature and just watch the reels. In our experience pretty much every spin will result in a win of some sort but whether it breaks even with your stake is another matter.
What you’re really trying to land is five barrels on a payline which will pay you 10000x your bet.
Bonus Features
While there are no real bonus games as such, Silver Bullet does include Playtech’s Dollar Ball progressive jackpot.
You can take part in this simply be clicking ‘Enable’ in the top right hand corner; this will cost a small extra amount on top of your bet and you can then pick five numbers between one and forty-nine.
On each spin a lottery-type draw takes place and five numbers are chosen. You can win the following prizes for matching numbers:
- 1, 2 or 3 numbers – fixed jackpot
- 4 numbers – 1% of progressive jackpot
- 5 numbers – entire progressive jackpot
Verdict
Silver Bullet is an old style slot which still plays perfectly well; it’s ideal if you have no interest in extra bonus features but it’s also handy if you fancy a chance of winning the progressive jackpot.
