Ghosts of Christmas is one of the latest releases from Playtech, always a provider of quality software to the online casino industry. When it comes to online slot machines we’re more used to playing games based on recent movies or perhaps comic book heroes so it’s a refreshing change to find one based on a classic novel by one of the greatest English authors ever to have lived.
Ghosts of Christmas is of course based on ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens; it’s a 19h century classic about Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation from a rich skinflint to a generous benefactor after visits from the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come.
This slot machine uses plenty of characters from the novel and there’s a distinctly Victorian look to the backdrop and the reels even if the symbols are rendered in a slightly cartoonish way. The graphics are actually more reminiscent of films such The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Q, K and Ace are the basic symbols and the special ones are Scrooge, Jacob Marley, a clock, Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchet (on the same symbol), a turkey and the three ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come.
The wild card is Scrooge and can substitute for all symbols except for the clock (bonus) and Marley scatter symbols.
Bonus Features
