When we first started playing this game we hoped it would be related to the 1980s arcade game of the same name in which players would punch their way sideways through various oriental gang members. Bally’s Double Dragon is different however – it retains an Far Eastern theme but there’s a distinct of violence of any kind. Read on to find out how this matches up to the many other oriental online slots available.
Double Dragon is a five reel slot with three rows and twenty five paylines. Silhouetted pagodas and lotus ponds form the backdrop to the reels over which the sun is setting. Yin and Yang dragons sit atop those reels, watching over proceedings.
A range of Chinese-themed symbols are on show including fire-crackers, fans, lanterns, ‘good luck’ signs, scrolls, lotus flowers, lucky coins, jade gems, gold ingots and a Koi fish. Symbols pay right to left as well as left to right which is always handy.
The Yin Yang Double Dragon symbol is wild and it’s also the key to the main feature, as we shall explain below.
Dragon Wild Feature
This is where all the action happens and it all revolves around landing that wild symbol anywhere on the reels. If you can manage to land one or more they will expand to fill all positions on that reel.
After paying out any prizes the expanded wild will be locked in place and you will receive one free spin. You will then be paid out again for any more wins but any more wilds which land will also expand and lock into place.
Another free spins follows and things continue in this manner until no more wilds land or you have wilds on every reel. If that happens it’s clearly a big winner.
This is an entertaining enough slot as long as the wilds keep landing and locking in place; our experience is that wins are quite hard to come by otherwise but the RTP is a respectable 95.98%
