Crystal Forest is a lovely premise for an online slot machine; it’s set in a fictional wooded environment in which crystals of various types and colours grow as enthusiastically as the more usual naturally occurring plants and trees.  This slot is developed by WMS Gaming who have a growing reputation for creativity and innovation.

Crystal Forest is a five reel and twenty five payline game and the background to the reels is a blueish forest scene with a range of white crystal growing in the foreground.  A diverse range of symbols represent the various values and the lower worth ones are snowflakes, a frog, toadstools and a candle.

Higher values are represented by a mystical-looking book, a purple-hued crystal ball, a crystal on a chain and a jackpot symbol.  We then have a selection of five creatures who can form winning combos either mixed or as one – a unicorn, a goblin, a fairy, a dragon and a wolf.  There’s also an animated tree wild symbol.

Cascading Symbols

This slot implements one of our favourite features and also uses it to access the bonus game so it’s a winner on all counts.

When you land a winning combo the symbols will vanish in small explosion, leaving gaps into which more symbols fall; a new combo can now be formed by those new symbols.  When you get a certain number of new drops the free spins round is activated.

Free Spins

You will notice to the left of the reels that there’s a scale with three crystals at the bottom followed by a ladder of free spins of various amounts above.  This is where the cascading symbols come in and each time you create a subsequent combo the ladder will fill up until you reach the free spins.
