Some online slots occasionally cross the line into being more of an arcade game and that’s the case with Cool Jewels, a brand new release from WMS Gaming which is reminiscent of video games such as Bejeweled and Candy Crush Saga. Cool Jewels has six reels, six rows but no paylines because wins are formed anywhere on the grid by forming vertical and/or horizontal combinations of four or more matching symbols. Those base symbols are all jewels and they are worth the same prizes. Combos containing the 10x symbols will be subject to that multiplier.
Bonus Features
Cascading Symbols
This is probably the main feature of this game because it relates to the value meter on the left hand side. When you land a combo of four or more those will disappear to be replaced by more symbols which can then form more combos and so on.
Each symbol involved increases the meter by one slice, gradually increasing the value of each one up to a maximum of £0.50 each – but there’s a long way to go before you get that far.
Wild Symbols
There are three different wild symbols here and they become active when part of a winning symbol combo.
- Shocking Wild – destroys all symbols radiating out from it diagonally
- Exploding Wild – destroys all symbols surrounding it
- Blasting Wild – destroys all symbols emanating in vertical and horizontal directions
If two wilds different land next to each other in a winning combo extra features occur. Check out the paytable for more detailed information but essentially they leave trails of blue, pink or green squares which offer extra prize-winning opportunities.
Two matching wilds in a winning combo become locked and remain active through each cascade until they reach the bottom of the screen.
Free Spins
Four Cool Jewels symbols are needed to trigger the free games and they must be destroyed by explosions, not matched in a combo. You receive the following:
- Four Cool Jewels – 8 spins
- Five Cool Jewels – 10 spins
- Six Cool Jewels – 15 spins
- Seven Cool Jewels – 20 spins

This is the type of game we like when we’re looking for something different. Set the Autoplay and just watch the action unfold as the jewels fall into place and are then destroyed, only to be replaced by more.
