Remember Tetris? Of course you do – it was the ridiculously addictive block matching game which occupied our time for much of the mid-1980s. You can still play it now of course and pretty much every console and device has a version available if you still want to give it a bash. You can also play an automated version for money with Cash Blox, it’s from Playtech and it provides players with the pleasure of watching the blocks drop without the frustration of actually having to do anything.
When you load the game up you will see the familiar playing area just to the right of centre. On the left is the paytable displaying the various rewards available for making different combinations of blocks. To the right is the information panel where you can see your stake and any winnings.
The object of Cash Blox is to complete entire lines in the playing area – there’s no input by you and it’s done automatically by the machine. A basic win is a single complete line but more valuable are the doubles, triples and quads. As a line is completed it will disappear and more blocks will fall in from the top to replace them; more complete lines can be formed in this manner.
How It Works
You can kick things off by selecting your bet with the ‘Bet -‘ and ‘Bet +’ buttons below the playing area and then all you need to do is select Play or Autoplay to start the blocks falling. If you’d like to see things happening in slow motion then use the Slow Mode button to that effect.
As the blocks fall, any complete line or lines will disappear with new ones falling in from the top to replace them. There’s also a multicoloured block which will give you ten free drops if it contributes to a complete line. During these drops all wins will be doubled. That’s all there is to it so give it a go and have some Tetris-themed fun.
Verdict
We’ve enjoyed playing Cash Blox, wins tend to be small but regular and you want to keep pressing that Play button. It makes a nice change from spinning the reels.
