Gods of any religion always usually form a fine theme for an online slot and here we have one based on the Norse god Odin and his home – Asgard; it’s called Asgardian Stones and it comes with a variety of bonus features and Net Ent’s ‘Avalanche’ gameplay.
Asgardian Stones is a five reel slot with three rows and twenty fixed paylines; the blocky reels hover over a blue glow while in the background there’s a somewhat grim, rocky view of Odin’s pad. On the left is the multiplier meter related to a gameplay feature we’ll explain shortly.
The five higher value symbols are all representations of gods, one being Odin we presume but the others are a bit of a mystery; Q, K and A make up the lower values. All these symbols can also appear as colossal 2×2 or 3×3 icons.
The wild is a gold ‘W’ which will substitute for all others to help form winning combos except for the huge bonus wheel.
Bonus Features
Avalanche Feature/Colossal Crush
This is a feature which appears in various guises in other slots and any symbols in wins you land will disappear to be replaced by more falling in from above; those symbols can then create new matches and the process can continue.
The Colossal Crush feature can occur if a 2×2 or 3×3 symbols falls in to replace others; if there are empty spaces below it, it will crush the rows beneath it, increasing the multiplier value on the left hand side by 1x with each drop up to a maximum of 4x. When it’s stopped falling (or reaches the bottom) any wins are evaluated and the multiplier value is applied.
Bonus Wheel
This is triggered by landing all or part of the 3×3 bonus wheel on reels three, four and five; it will spin in place and a maximum of three of it’s segments will be highlighted, depending on how much of it is in view. Those segments will reveal coins wins of up to 5x the total bet or five free spins (so a possible total of fifteen spins if all three are highlighted).
Any free spins will now take place and during this round the wild may also be colossal; if it takes part in a win it will split up and only the sections used will disappear in the avalanche.
The bonus wheel can be activated twice more during this feature with a maximum of twenty five extra spins available.
Verdict
There are shades of Gonzo’s Quest about the gameplay in Asgardian Stones but that’s a good thing as it’s one of our all-time favourite slots; there are loads of bonus features here and the high quality we expect from Net Entertainment – highly recommended! It comes with an RTP of 96.31%.
