Untamed Giant Panda is one of the latest online slots from Microgaming, the company already responsible for the release of Untamed Wolf Pack and Untamed Bengal Tiger. Fans of those particular slots will therefore be well aware of what to expect from this version.
So rather than being themed on wolves in North America or Bengal tigers in India, on this occasion we’re travelling to China to visit the giant panda, one of the world’s endangered species.
This slot features five reels and 243 ways to win and it’s all set in a lush, steamy bamboo forest; everything is green except the thinnest slivers of sky visible through the undergrowth. The main symbols are represented by a mountainous landscape, a solitary panda sitting on the ground, a panda cub and the giant panda itself. 10, J, Q, K and A are the minor symbols.
Special symbols are as follows:
- Untamed Giant Panda Wild – wild symbol which also activates the Collect A Wild bonus feature
- Panda Eye Scatter – triggers the free spins round
Collect A Wild Feature
If you look just below each reel in the base game you’ll see four small boxes; these start off empty but each time you land a wild symbol on the reels one of the boxes underneath will fill up. Once all four are filled up the reel will turn entirely wild and you’ll get four free spins.
It’s also possible to have several reels completely wild simultaneously if you’re lucky enough.
The free spins are triggered by landing three or more of the Panda Eye scatter symbols and for that you’ll get ten free goes; during this round any wilds you land will will freeze in place for the duration of the feature.
Every win entitles you to a chance to increase that cash prize by clicking the ‘Gamble’ button. On this screen you’ll see a big dial which can be altered to raise or lower the potential winnings but you’ll also be changing the odds of that outcome.
Although each of the ‘Untamed’ series of slots are virtually identical they’re still very well designed, they look good and they’re fun to play. So what if you’re just swapping various animals in and out of the game – give it a go.
