Totem poles are large symbolic carvings found in North America but you can read more about that here; for our purposes they are also the theme of this online slot machine from Red Tiger Gaming. It’s called Totem Lightning and it comes with a progressive jackpot and an interesting gameplay mechanic.
Totem Lightning is a five reel slot with four rows and forty fixed paylines; those reels are tribal and ornate and they sit to the right of the progressive jackpot totals on the left hand side.
The four high value symbols are the sort of animal carvings one might expect on a Totem pole and include an eagle, a puma, a wolf and a crab; 10, J, Q, K and A make up the lower values.
There’s no wild symbol in Totem Lightning but there is a bonus symbol represented by a large, gold ‘Bonus’.
Bonus Features
Lightning Strike
A lightning strike can randomly strike the reels to create winning combos and begin the Symbol Strike process explained below.
Symbol Strike
This is a version of the collapsing reels feature often seen in other games but here if you land a winning combination all instances of that symbols will be removed from the reels as long as it’s 10, J, Q, K or A (you can see which symbols have been removed to the right of the reels). You’ll then get a free respin to try and land another win and remove more symbols.
If you make a combo of the high value symbols just those involved in the combo will disappear and this process will continue until there are no more wins.
Totem Multiplier Bonus
This is triggered by landing three or more of the Bonus symbols anywhere in view and this will start the multiplier ladder game in which you must select from the pipes on offer to move up the ladder, increasing the multiplier value until you land on ‘collect’.
Progressive Jackpot
This is triggered from the base game by landing three of the jackpot symbols which will either award the Mega, Super or Quick Hit prizes shown to the left of the reels. There’s also a Daily Jackpot which must pay out before the time shown.
