Escaping from a prison may not be the most ethical theme for an online slot machine but Inspired Gaming have done it anyway, giving us Prison Escape – a release which offers players the chance to grab some big prizes by navigating the trail to freedom.
Prison Escape is a five reel slot with three rows and ten fixed paylines; the symbols spin within the bars of a prison window which overlooks the exercise yard, sparsely lit by roving spotlights and the setting sun.
The theme-related symbols include the games’ logo, two prisoners with their accompanying numbers, the prison guard, a searchlight and a prison van; J, Q, K and A represent the lower values. The golden keyhole is wild, it appears on reels two, three and four and it will replace all symbols except the blueprint bonus to create winning matches.
Blueprint Bonus Trail
Landing three of the blueprint bonus symbols on reels one, three and five will kick off this feature in which your task is to work your way across the map of the prison, trying to get to the Workshop, the Warden’s Office, the Control Room or the Paradise Fortune. There’s a Walkie Talkie that will advise on the best route to take and ideally you’ll be trying to ‘level up’ your character by landing on ‘power-ups’ for bigger prizes in those areas. Landing on a guard will remove one of your lives and when your lives are gone the game is over.
- Warden’s Office – awards a number of picks from the lockers depending on your character’s level.
- Workshop Bonus – accept or reject the prize offers in a Deal or no Deal-type game.
- Control Room – awards up to 12 free spins with locking wilds.
- Paradise Fortune Wheel – awards a spin of the multiplier wheel.
Clicking the ‘gamble’ button on the right will offer a gamble opportunity when the win is over 5x the stake – you’ll zoom down a zip line and if you reach the end the Blueprint Bonus is awarded.
If you land a win which is at least 23x the stake then you’ll automatically be offered the chance to play the trail without gambling.
Prison Escape seems like quite a basic game until you trigger the feature at which point it turns into a board game with real cash prizes as the outcome – it’s interesting stuff and certainly good fun if complex bonuses don’t faze you.
