Anyone who played video games throughout the late 80s and 1990s will almost certainly find some aspects of this science fiction-themed online slot familiar; it’s from Net Entertainment and it’s called Neon Staxx which could easily be the name of a terrible 80s pop group. However it is in fact a well-designed machine with a SuperStaxx feature and a free spins round.
Neon Staxx is a five reel slot with four rows and forty fixed paylines; the backdrop to those reels is a Tron-like landscape with lightning strikes peppering distant structures which glow in a pink haze.
The four high value (predator) symbols are glitzy animal heads in various colours – yellow lions, red panthers, purple eagles and blue snakes; the lower values are the standard J, Q, K and A.
The wild symbols is a pink ‘Wild’ in front of a gold circle and the scatter is represented by a pink triangle on a green circle.
Bonus Features
SuperStaxx
At the beginning of each spin one of the symbols (except the scatter) is randomly picked to be part of the Superstaxx set which is a stack of icons that can fill all reel positions. Of course what you want is for these stacks to appear on adjacent reels to make a huge win.
Free Spins
This feature is triggered by landing three or more of the pink triangle scatter symbols anywhere in view for which you will receive the following:
- Three scatters – 10 free spins
- Four scatters – 15 free spins
- Five scatters – 20 free spins
During this round the Superstaxx feature continues to be active but here only the high value predator symbols and the wild can be selected to form a stack.
There’s no extra multiplier for any wins and it’s not possible to trigger any further spins from within the round.
Verdict
Neon Staxx is another interesting and high quality game from Net Entertainment and we think the Superstaxx feature is probably the main draw. It’s worth keeping the sound on so you can appreciate the 1980s soundtrack and it comes with an RTP of 96.90%.
