Rural America is our destination as we check out this amusing online slot from Rival Gaming. It’s called Moonshiner’s Moolah and it’s a celebration of all the ‘culture’ of these forgotten parts of the United States. Moonshine is of course that home-brewed alcoholic concoction which is always welcome at a party until the guests start going blind.
Moonshiner’s Moolah plays out over five reels and twenty paylines; there’s a grassy green background to the proceedings but everything else is made out of wood as befits the concept. The background sound effects are quite entertaining especially the noise of hacking/spitting when a certain symbol lands.
The symbols are all related to the theme and include a shotgun, tractor, bottle of moonshine, wooden house, spittoon, banjo, pick-up truck, dopey-looking dog and Grandma; Grandma is the most valuable base game icon and worth 1000x the line stake for five on an active payline.
The blonde girl is wild and there are two scatter symbols – Grandpa and the chicken – which activate their own bonus features. The wild only appears on reel one and will expand to fill the entire reel if it can make a winning combo.
Landing three or more of the Grandpa symbol anywhere in view will kick this game off. You will be taken to a screen displaying a number of bottles of moonshine and all you have to do is choose three, each of which will be worth a prize amount. The total of the bottles will be yours.
Chicken Shoot Bonus Round
Three or more of the chicken symbols will gain you entry into this mini-game and it’s a chance to shoot as many of our tasty feathered friends as possible with the six shotgun shells available. It’s not too hard and you should be able to guide the mouse to the wandering chickens for a big payout.
Moonshiner’s Moolah is good fun – the graphics and animations are good quality, the sound effects are authentic and there’s an element of humour. Well worth checking out.
