Huangdi is the legendary Yellow Emperor in Chinese myth who reigned almost 5000 years ago. We won’t pretend to know much about this gentleman but Wikipedia tells us he is now “regarded as the initiator of Chinese civilisation” and the “ancestor of all Chinese”. More importantly he invented something similar to football! Microgaming have now developed an online slot based on this chap and you can read all about it here.
Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor is a five reel slot with three rows and twenty five fixed paylines; a delicate ornate frame contains the reels while in the background we can just about make out traditional Chinese buildings and hazy mountains under a blue sky.
The high value symbols are Huangdi himself along with three ornately designed items belonging to the emperor. 10, J, Q, K and A represent the lower values.
The game’s logo is the wild and it will replace all others in a winning combo except for the golden dragon scatter which activates the main feature.
If you can land a full stack of high value symbols on reel one in the base game, all matching symbols on the other reels will also expand to offer some chances of big wins.
This is triggered by landing three or more of the golden dragon scatter symbols anywhere in view for which you will receive fifteen free spins. The wild symbol can appear stacked on reel one during this round.
The expanding symbols feature also occurs here but any wild symbols on display will also expand for extra winning chances. More spins can be triggered by landing three more scatter symbols.
Huangdi isn’t the most compelling oriental-themed slot we’ve ever played but it’s worth tracking down for some nice graphics and animations. There are some big wins to be had if you get lucky with the expanding symbols and there’s an RTP of 95.48%.
