Hot Blox takes place on the playing area shown above with nine blocks displaying four symbols in each; there’s a fiery backdrop to those reels so we have the ‘Hot’ and the ‘Blox’.

Each of the nine blocks spins independently to reveal four symbols and the primary aim is to land four matching symbols in one block – this block or blocks then pays out according to the paytable.

However that’s not all because around the outside of each block there’s a charging meter which is filled up by being part of a non-winning spin; after sixteen such spins it will become charged and if a 2×2 symbol is formed then the payouts are multiplied in the following way.

Hot Blox is a pretty clever slot, even if it did take us a while to work out what’s going on; the charging feature certainly makes you want to keep playing and there’s a decent RTP of exactly 96.00%.
