As any self-respecting online slots fan knows 2015 is the Chinese Year Of The Sheep and as the Chinese New Year approaches what better way to celebrate than spin the reels on a game with this theme. Happy New Year is a three reel slot from Microgaming which marks the occasion with fireworks and paper lanterns so read on to find out more about this oriental release.
Happy New Year is a three reel slot with two rows and five paylines; the game is emblazoned with what we assume is the Chinese translation of ‘Happy New Year’ and it’s also the highest paying symbol. The paytable on the right hand side explains the value of various reel combinations and the reels themselves sit above a scene of exploding fireworks.
It’s a basic game and there aren’t many symbols on show; we have yellow, red and green fireworks (or maybe firecrackers), paper lanterns. The lowest payout is achieved by a combination of any three coloured fireworks.
The ‘Happy New Year’ sign is the highest paying and worth up to 2400x your stake. It’s also the wild symbol and if it appears once in a winning combo will double that win; appearing twice will quadruple the win.
There are five coin betting levels in this game and you can see from the paytable that each extra coin you use increases the number of paylines on which it’s possible to land the three wilds (and therefore the highest prize). Play with all five coins to maximise the chances of the bigger payouts – your stakes will of course be higher but the payback will be proportionally the same. The betting ranges from £1.00 to £125.00.
This is clearly one for the classic slots aficionados; there’s virtually nothing in the way of bonus features and some very basic sound effects. Check it out if you want to add to your collection of Oriental games played though – there’s an RTP of 95.75%.
