There’s nothing like a good pirate-themed online slot but while Gold Ahoy is certainly all about pirates, is it any good? It’s developed by NextgenGaming (now part of Amaya Gaming) and it’s certainly got all the essential ingredients – swarthy characters, deserted tropical islands, grog and buried treasure. Gold Ahoy is a five reel slot with three rows and up to twenty five paylines; those reels are decorated with gold and bleached skulls while in the background there are burning staffs, palm trees and blue skies.
The high value symbols include the pirate ship, the Skull and Crossbones, a half-buried rum bottle and a cutlass; 9, 10, J, Q, K and A make up the lower values.
The pirate is the wild symbol and he’ll substitute for everything else except the chest and map bonus symbols.
Bonus Features
Chest Bonus
This is triggered by landing three or more of the treasure chest scatter symbols anywhere in view and it’s a picking round in which you must choose just one of the chests on display for a cash prize. If you are very lucky you’ll find the ‘Win All’ chest.
Free Spins
Trigger this by landing three of the map bonus symbols anywhere on reels three, four and five; you must now select some spots to dig and this will determine the number of spins (up to thirty) and multiplier.

Gamble Feature
