Alien creatures and online slot machines always seem to make a good fit and with Galacticons from Microgaming, that standard is maintained; it’s big, bright and cheerful and it features a bonus game with one or two innovative touches.
Galacticons is a five reel and 243 payline slot which is based somewhere in deep space; the reels seem to be set inside a spaceship of some kind and we can look out onto a red and purple-tinged galaxy scene. Microgaming uses the standard 9, 10, J, Q, K and A as the low value symbols and the more valuable ones are represented by a small spaceship, a purple alien, a blue alien and a red alien.

Big Bang Feature
As we mentioned above, landing three, four or five of the sun scatter symbols anywhere on the reels will trigger 10, 15 or 20 free spins. The spins are a good start but it’s the big, floating, purple-tinged black hole which adds the excitement to this round.
It will float to a different location on the reels after every spin and will react differently depending on what it lands next to as follows:
- Landing next to a character or the spaceship will reward a random bonus multiplier of between 1x and 5x the triggering bet. The symbols are sucked in to the black hole.
- Landing next to a sun scatter symbol will add one free spin to the total number.
- Landing next to the Milky Way will suck it in and multiply all prizes for that spin by 2x.
Unfortunately you can’r re-trigger the free spin but landing the black hole next to a scatter symbol can extend it a bit.
243 Ways To Win
Rather than the standard payline layout, Microgaming offers this 243 payline option which means that the player can win as long as the symbols are in adjacent reels. In our experience this tends to result in smaller but more frequent wins.
Milky Way Wild
As a small extra, if the Milky Way wild symbol is part of a winning combination that prize will be subject to a 2x multiplier.
Verdict
We particularly like the bonus feature in this slot and it means that reaching that bonus round almost guarantees a pretty decent payout. The music is quite hectic but you can always use the mute button if that’s your preference.
