Aztec ruins and South American jungles are an enduringly popular theme for online slots developers and now it’s the turn of Quickspin to give us their version. Firestorm has five reels and twenty five fixed paylines and the first thing to say is that this game looks great; it’s as graphically sharp as any current slots and the reels are set against a background of ruined temples being overrun by the encroaching jungle.
The lower value symbols are the jewels on the reels that are not lit up – orange, green, blue, pink and purple – while the higher values are also jewels but they sparkle and are inset in gold, silver and bronze. The symbols can all appear stacked on the reels, offering the player more winning chances.
There’s a green wild symbol and there’s also a burning mask wild which activates the bonus feature. The mask wild can substitute for all other symbols while the green wild will not substitute for the mask.

Mask Respins
This bonus feature takes place within the base game and to trigger it you will need to land two or more of the burning mask bonus symbols on the reels.
You will now see small animation in which another random symbol will be picked and any one of those on the reels, plus the bonus symbols, will be frozen in place. The reels will now respin and any more of the chosen symbols or wilds will also be frozen. When you fail to land any more of those items, the respins will stop and any wins will be evaluated.
The more golden masks you can freeze in place, the higher the multiplier for the final prize. Three masks is worth a 2x multiplier up to 5x for six masks. You can see this happen in the video below.
