Let’s take a trip back now to an unspecified time when warriors with magical powers roamed the landscape; this is Fire & Steel – War of the Wilds, an online slot machine developed by Betsoft Gaming which looks fantastic – find out how it all works right here.
Fire & Steel is a five reel slot with variable rows and twenty fixed paylines although wins can be formed from right to left as well as left to right in this game; our two warriors guard the reels on either side while green-eyed creatures loom threateningly above.
The higher value symbols are a golden crown, purple and yellow crests, an ornate book, a bejewelled cup, a helmet and a dagger; five coloured gems – green, blue, red, orange and yellow – make up the lower values.
The Swordsman and the Shieldmaiden are special symbols and we’ll explain those in more detail below.
Bonus Features
Warrior Wilds
Fire & Steel’s main feature revolves around the appearance on the reels of the Swordsman and the Shieldmaiden and they award the following features:
- Swordsman – transforms all symbols above or below him on his reel into wilds.
- Shieldmaiden – transforms all symbols to the left or right into wilds.
Free Spins
If both characters land on the reels in the same spin and their transforming beams intersect you will receive ten free spins; the space where the spins intersected will remain wild until the end of the round and if you retrigger the spins the new intersecting space will also be wild.
Gamble Feature
Any base game win can be gambled by clicking the ‘Double Up’ button below the reels and this is a simple Heads/Tails 50/50 punt to try and double that win; get it wrong and you’ll lose it all though.
Verdict
Betsoft have produced another amazing-looking game in Fire & Steel and there’s no questioning it’s playability or quality; the regular feature triggers keep things ticking along nicely and there’s a great soundtrack.
