A nice little intro movie at the start of this game will tell you that this online slot is based on the tale of Hansel and Gretel and their efforts to avoid being eaten by the witch in her gingerbread house. It’s called Candy Cottage, it’s developed by Rival Gaming and it’s a colourful journey into a classic fairytale.
Candy Cottage has five reels and twenty paylines and the game is a multicolour riot of gingerbread and sweets. The background to the reels is a large piece of gingerbread. The symbols include several goodies such as liquorice all sorts and chocolates but there’s also a duck, a bread basket and Hansel and Gretel.
The cauldron is the wild symbol which only appears on reel three but will expand to fill all reels if it can make a winning combo. There are two scatter symbols – the gingerbread house and a cage – which activate their respective bonus rounds.
There’s nothing wrong with some free spins and there are ten available here if you can land three or more of the gingerbread house scatter symbols anywhere on the reels.
Any wins you achieve in this round will be subject to a 3x multiplier but unfortunately you can’t trigger more spins from within this feature.
This mini-game ties into the original storyline and to kick it off you need to land three or more of the cage symbols anywhere on the reels.
The old lady now tries to tempt you to eat lots of sweets and of course you agree. Your task is to move Hansel left and right on the screen to catch the falling sweets in his mouth. The more you catch, the more you win.
The rest of all this eating is that you become incapacitated and the old lady locks you up in her cage and drags you off to be eaten.
Candy Cottage Online Slot Playing Tips
Scatter symbols trigger the features so you can play with just one payline and still have the same chance of activating them – handy for low rollers or those who just want to extend their playing time.
Although the graphics and animations may seem a little basic, this is very enjoyable and the bonuses seem fairly easy to hit. We even like the slightly spooky sound effects so this is worth checking out.
