If the word ‘delicate’ could ever be applied to an online slot machine then it could well be appropriate here – we’re talking about Boxo, a release designed by Leander Games with a classic Japanese design and some interesting gameplay. Find out how it all works below.
Boxo is a three reel slot with three rows and just the single payline; those reels spin on a structure reminiscent of a temple as you can see by the curved roof and red flags. The artwork which makes up the backdrop is compelling and a reminder of work by Katsushika Hokusai.
There are only two symbols in this Boxo – the gold coin and the silver X, worth 50x and 5x your stake respectively so now is as good a time as any to explain how the gameplay works…..
Picture this game as two sets of reels, one on top of the other – one set involves the symbols and your attempts to land three matching ones on the single payline. The second set is the patchwork of colours which land on each spin – ignore the cream colour, only the red, black and green are important.
Each time the colour in the top box matches a reel position, that colour value will be incremented in the Bonus Pots above the reels by 1x your stake.
Three matching colours on the payline will award the prize for that colour but landing three of the rarer gold squares on the payline will award all jackpot amounts plus a multiplier of 1x, 3x or 5x.
It might take a bit of working out but Boxo is good fun when you get the hang of it; it looks great, it comes with a nice soundtrack to accompany your gameplay and an RTP of 96.47%.
