Medieval magic is the theme of this online slot from Iron Dog Studios as we visit Blirix Workshop to try and help him out with his strange experiments while he tries to guide us through the various fantastical bonus features on offer.
Blirix Workshop is a five reel slot with three rows and twenty fixed paylines; the glow from some blue potion illuminates the reels which are surrounded by the ephemera of a mysterious lab – vials, books, ancient furniture, rats and lazy cats.
All the symbols are related to the theme and they’re an odd, nicely-designed bunch of varying colours and shapes – vials, lamp, sand timers and the like; the wild symbol is a lanky plant which, if it lands on the bottom row, will grow upwards to fill all the other positions. There’s another ‘Potion Book’ wild which only appears on reel three and a scatter symbol in the shape of Blirix himself.

Potion Book
Whenever the wild Potion Book lands on reel three it will open up and reveal on of several bonus features including extra wilds added Yellow Flystorm), win multipliers and symbols which transform to help create winning combinations (Purple Flystorm). Each of these spells can have a strength of one to three – the higher the number the more bonussy help you’ll get and (hopefully) the bigger the wins.
Free Spins
Landing three, four or five of the Blirix scatter symbols anywhere in view will award 10, 15 or 20 free spins; on every spin the three symbols on reel three will drop down and be collected in the cauldron, filling up the area on the left hand side – when this is full these symbols will be rearranged to create an extra win.
If the Potion Book lands on reel three during the free spins it will always award level four spells as follows:
- Cauldron Swap – all low value symbols in the cauldron transform into matching high value ones.
- Wild Cauldron Swap – one low value symbols will become wild in the cauldron.

There’s loads going on in Blirix Workshop with plenty of magic bonus action in the base game and free spins if you can land the Potion Book regularly. It’s certainly designed to Iron Dog’s usual high standards.
