There’s no doubt that 2013 has been something of a good year for online slots fans; there have been loads of fantastic new games from the established operators such as Playtech, Net Entertainment and Microgaming but there have also been some very high quality releases from many of the newer and smaller companies. As the popularity of slots increases and more software developers enter the market, 2014 should be an even better year, especially with accelerating technological improvement.
Predicting the slots which will be making the biggest impact in the following year is always tricky; in general those developers rarely offer any hints about what’s on the way until the last minute. In 2013 we had some advance notice of Secret of the Stones and Creature From The Black Lagoon – both from Net Entertainment – but this is the exception rather than the rule and so there are some assumptions involved in the predictions.
What we can be sure of is several new Marvel slots from Playtech (and perhaps event from Amaya Gaming); these games are always packed with bonus features and of course all feature the progressive jackpots with their huge prizes. In particular we are expecting a game based on the Thor: The Dark World, the latest movie released in 2013 and widely regarded as an improvement on the original.
Microgaming have been happy to trail Avalon II, obviously a sequel to Avalon and available to play at online casinos from February 2014 – it’s a fantastic-looking game with enough bonus features to sink a battleship. You can check out a lengthy but enticing trailer for the game by clicking here.
We also expect some additions to Microgaming’s Rhyming Reels series of games; each one is a modern take on a children’s nursery rhyme usually laced with some elements of adult humour – Jack and Jill is probably one of the best examples. As always though we’ll bring you reviews of the newest games as soon as we get to check them out so check back regularly.
