Situated slap bang in the centre of England and just about as far away from the coast as you can get is the historic city of Leicester, a multicultural melting pot where the quality and availability of spicy food from the subcontinent is almost unparalleled. A city in which the body of King Richard III was recently discovered and disinterred must surely have some casino action and that is indeed the case.
Grosvenor G
This particular venue used to be the Gala Casino and is situated on Highcross Street and in 2014 underwent an extensive renovation which certainly improved it for the better. It’s a reasonably large casino which seems nice and spacious inside and the revamp also saw the addition of a private ‘Gold Room’ for high rollers.
The section of slots is the usual Grosvenor fare including WMS Gaming, Novomatic and IGT – a range which includes progressive jackpots and multigame cabinets.
As with most Grosvenor casinos there’s a strong poker culture here with daily tournaments and cash games along with Roulette, Blackjack, Three Card Poker and video poker.
It’s open 24/7 and there are two bars and a restaurant for those looking for some refreshment.

Genting Leicester
Formerly Mint Casino, this Genting is situated on East Bond Street close to the Highcross Shopping Centre. It’s not a 24 hour venue but it’s not far off and open from 11am until 6am.
Table games include American Roulette, Blackjack and Blackjack Aces and there’s also a number of electronic roulette tables if you don’t want a real life croupier. IGT, Spielo and Novomatic slots are on offer here and all offer multigame cabinets as well as progressive jackpots with prizes up to £15,000. If you take advantage of the Slots Club, rewards are available for regular players.
The Genting lacks a restaurant but has a nice bar with sensibly-priced drinks and a good range of snacks available for the peckish.
