If there are three words guaranteed to cause an English football fan to break out in a cold sweat they are are surely “Penalty Shoot Out”. The national team has a dire record when it comes to this winner-takes-all shoot out so perhaps it’s time to try it out for yourself. Not actually on a pitch you understand – that would be way too much effort – but sat in from of a computer screen. This game is called Penalty Shoot Out, it’s from Playtech and in this World Cup year, why not give it a go?
Penalty Shoot Out is a very simple game; when you first load it up you will be faced with a goal, a goalkeeper and five different arrows which determine the direction of the ball. On the right hand side there’s a chart which displays your success in the last ten kicks.
How It Works
First of all, choose your stake per kick at the bottom of the screen – the range is from £0.10 to £100. Now you need to decide where in the goal you want the ball to go. Any knowledge of football will probably do more harm than good as a kick into the top left or right hand corner will attract the highest odds of 12/1 when real life might suggest otherwise. The bottom left or right hand corners attracts odds of 3/1 while a punt down the middle is 5/1.
If you repeatedly boot it into the top corners you will soon find out why the odds are 12/1.
If you would like to base your next kick on past performance then you should study the Keeper History on the right hand side.
That’s all there is to it so there’s nothing to taxing for one’s brain to cope with.
Penalty Shoot Out Tips
It’s worth noting that the highest RTP is to be had by going for the top corners, despite the longer odds.
Verdict
This is a very basic game but it’s quite addictive in a strange way. The goalkeeper is clearly the greatest custodian the world has ever seen if his success rate is anything to go by.
