Sometimes we like to a step back from the spinning reels and try something a little different and this arcade-style slot from Microgaming is certainly that. Germinator is a hugely addictive little game which contains enough of the elements of a slot to satisfy most players but also offers a refreshing diversion from the norm.
When you first load up Germinator you’ll see a screen containing a 6 x 6 grid filled with a gruesome-looking assortment of colourful germs. To the right of this screen you can see a space for the Medi-Bonus capsules below which are the germs and the multiplier associated with each one.
How It Works
The aim of the game is to make lines of three or more matching germs horizontally or vertically; each match will be worth a prize amount depending on which germ is included.
All those matching germs will then be destroyed to make way for more germs to fall into place. There are only five different germs matches are pretty frequent. What you will quickly notice is that you will need to make quite a few matches even to recoup your stake so those extra matches are more of a necessity than a luxury.
Bonus Features
Germinator also includes a groovy little bonus game and to trigger it you’ll need to end you round with three or more of the little Medi-Bonus capsules somewhere on the grid. They are attached to random germs and you’ll often see them annoyingly come and go during the matching phase. You need them to be there when everything stops.
You’ll now get the chance to select one germ and remove all instances of that little fellow from the screen, hopefully leaving lots of gaps in which new matches will occur. It’s also possible to end this round with three more capsules and so re-trigger the feature.
Germinator Online Slot Playing Tips
There is some skill involved in the bonus feature because you need to try and visualise which germs will be dropping into which places after you’ve removed all of one type. In general, try and remove the low value, more regularly occurring ones to give yourself some chances of higher value matches.
