Net Entertainment have a reputation for creativity when it comes to developing compelling online slots and that applies to three reel as well as five reel games. Crazy Sports is a fine example of how to take the basic mechanics of three reels and add some well-designed extras to create a really interesting game. It’s designed to look like a physical slot inside a casino environment.
Crazy Sports plays out over three reels and eight possible paylines and the theme is one of sport. Most of the symbols are related to American sports and include pool balls, a baseball helmet, a gridiron ball, a trophy and boxing gloves. The remaining symbols are traditional bars and then a green ‘Play’ button.
You can select from one to eight paylines and they are horizontal and vertical in this game; there’s also two diagonal lines running from left to right.
There are no special symbols or bonus features here but that doesn’t detract from what is an entertaining game. Select your required paylines, choose your coin size and once you’re happy with your total wager just click ‘Spin’. The symbols settle in a particularly pleasing way and there’s a small extra feature which means you can stop the reels before time by pressing ‘Spin’ again.
The basic payouts are all to do with matching three symbols on an active payline but there are also some special ways to win. Filling all reel positions with the same symbol will win you between 50x for single bars up to 700x for triple bars. The green ‘Play’ symbols are a little different – just two will win you 2x your line stake while filling all positions will earn you 3000x your wager. Lastly, if all the symbols are sports-related that’s worth 15x your line stake.
Verdict
This is one of those games that manages to be enjoyable and faintly addictive despite having very few added extras. It’s well worth checking out, even for those who live and die by bonus features.
