As more and more of us make the most of our smartphones and tablets when we’re on the move, so more and more online casinos feature slots which are only available on mobile devices. The design’s a little different – in general swiping from side to side will reveal the betting options and the paytable – but there’s still a spin button and real money to be won. 5 Reel Drive is a Microgaming release based on fast food and the open road and it’s a basic design which lends itself well to the mobile format; read our review for more details.
5 Reel Drive is a five reel slot with three rows and nine paylines; it’s reminiscent of Microgaming’s older slots in which the big symbols take up all the screen space and there’s no room for any type of pretty background. The sound effects are as basic as the design.
There are a range of symbols all related to the theme and these include a burger, a yellow taxi, a coffee/doughnut, a coke, a pair of fluffy dice, a red truck, a slice of blueberry pie, a portion of chips, a pink Cadillac and a burning tyre/chequered flag. A veritable cornucopia of Americana.
The wild symbol is represented by a road sign and it will substitute for all other symbols except the scatter. That scatter is a police car, sirens blazing and it will payout without needing to be on an active payline.
The paylines are fixed at nine and there’s a minimum stake per line of £0.25 which means a betting range of £2.25 to £90.00 per spin. The wild symbol doesn’t pay out on it’s own so for the big wins you’ll need to land five of the burning tyre symbols on an active payline which would result in a 10000 coin prize.
Verdict
5 Reel Drive is clearly a little dated now but for those not interested in any bonus features it fits the bill pretty well. It’s colourful enough and has a generous RTP of 96.96%.
