Marvel Slots are produced by two companies under separate licensing agreements with Marvel Enterprises and the resulting games have been some of the most memorable of recent years.  Those companies are Cryptologic and Playtech with the former (2005) beating the latter (2010) to the start line by about five years.

A quick word first about Marvel Studios; it’s a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, originally founded as Timely Comics in 1939 and home of such legendary artists and writers as Stan Lee, Frank Kirby and Steve Ditko.  Marvel and it’s writers have created some of the world’s best known comic characters and there won’t be many people who are unaware of superheroes such as the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

Online slots and superhero characters seem like something of a natural fit and when Cryptologic, Playtech and Marvel completed their licensing agreements it precipitated the design and creation of some of the most popular slots on the market.

Generally the slots will be based on one of the Marvel superheroes but there may well also be a tie in with a current movie; recent examples include Iron Man, Elektra and the Incredible Hulk.  Marvel Slots appear to be a cut above many other online slots but perhaps that’s more to do with the familiarity of the characters rather than any actual superiority.  Playtech certainly do seem to cram more features into their Marvel designs than their other creations but again, maybe that’s just the impression.

The quality of the games is in no doubt though and playing them on an HD monitor is becoming more and more advisable to take advantage of the high quality graphics on offer.  One of the biggest draws for slots fans is the Marvel Hero Jackpots feature which both companies offer in marginally different ways; Cryptologic has three different jackpots entitled Hero, Super Hero and Marvel Hero Jackpots while Playtech has the Power, Extra Power, Super Power and Absolute Power Jackpots.  Both are progressive jackpots, potentially worth life-changing sums of money and you don’t even need to spin a winning combination to win, they are awarded randomly.
